Open Attachment
[Music: C. Noot | Lyrics: R. Sleegers]
There I was, in your life, from one day to another I never thought, the day would come, I had to choose one or the other Occupied, by the fight, I felt left alone But I buried the pain deep down There I was, in my youth, without a real example Of how to be a partner, so I jumped from one love to the other (It) took a while, to figure out, my own way to go And I buried the fear deep down Chorus Down in my most fragile core I fear to lose love once more When I’ve found it Will I allow it to heal me for sure? There you were, in my life, from one day to the other They’re over now, (the) days I spent, in solitude and sorrow It took a while, to figure out, where our love could go And the chance almost passed me by Chorus Why don’t I love who I am? I fear to lose love once again When I’ve found it Will I allow it to heal me? I want you to be mine and bind myself (to you) and at the same time to heal the wounds of childhood and youth that defined so much of my life and yours but not anymore Here I am, once again, and finally we’re together I never thought the day would come, that I could give myself to you And take in the love And feel so alive Chorus 2x Now / Down in my most fragile core I feel there’s no fear anymore I’ve found it Now it can grow into something more Our life is what I dreamed it’d be I love you as you love me And together We have the power to pass it on |

“This song is about attachment, or detachment, and how to overcome it. I’m not talking about serious disorders or anything, but just the everyday troubles we have in committing to the ones we love. Many of those troubles stem from events in our childhood or youth and are in some way beyond our control (e.g. when your parents get a divorce or your heart gets broken). What we can control is our healing process, because I deeply believe that true love can heal all wounds, if we allow it!”
“The lyrics to this song sprang from my own experiences in my youth. Now, looking back with the knowledge I have about attachment … and detachment … I recognized what I missed, but also … luckily … how finding love in my life has filled those gaps. They say time heals all wounds … but actually, love does.” (Richard, drums & vocals)
“Think of people that could benefit from the message of this song, and ‘Pass it on’” Wide-Awake
